The War Horse

This is a Baroque period body type, popular in Europe between  approximately 1500 and 1750, especially in Spain, where many of the best of this type  were bred and exported from.  It was developed for unarmored riders, so it was a light riding horse, not the heavy Medieval type, which was draft-bred to carry a man in plate armor.  For examples, see the Andalusian, Lusitano, Knabstrupper, and other breeds developed during this period of history.
